O2, Vodafone etc have been all over the place for weeks now , silly things like calls not going through one minute but fine the next and the amount of times you loose signal as though the volume has been turned off mid conversation is ridiculous

Yes, annoying.
I rang customer services again, and got through in seconds (like the last time as well). COnfirmed it's some network thing. At least it isn't the old phone though. I basically only use the mobile for texting, using calls about once a blue moon. Not much to ask to be able to do that!

Driving along, left hand lane, 55ish mph, earlyish in the morning, on a dual carriage way with no one else, car wise, in front or behind. At least momentarily. Behind me, in the rear view mirror, over the rear horizon, appears a car. The car, closing in over time, despite having the entire duel carriage way ahead, don't overtake well in advance, but does so after travelling right up by a**e (for want of a better description). Then, after passing, with the entire duel carriage way empty ahead, still partially cuts me up as it moves back into the left hand lane. How many times this sort of thing has occurred I've lost count. How can you be driving for X amount of years and still be so c**p with zero forward planning.

My almost new iD4 high tech, super duper, feat of engineering excellence has just had a recall…… nothing serious, just the doors opening when driving.

I think they can do more than that, I don’t do conspiracy theories or tin foil hats but that car listens to your conversations, knows where you are going, how long you’ve been there, how you drive, how long you sat in the car stationary, how many people are in the car and can determine what sex they are…… then it relays all this information back to my Wife.

I don’t drive it much…

Sick as fcuk with the government interference in our lives. Think about it, we are a handful of people keeping a few old vehicles alive. They have little impact on the environment compared to the millions of vehicles churned out of factories at great cost to the planet.

I spend a lot of time up and down the UK both for work and pleasure, see a lot of scary roadcraft, the worst time is nearly over what with the summer holidays behind us. All the "once a year" motorway legends of inability are safely back to their daily commute.

But replying to myself, it seems far from being a nothing burger. Read round it.

I for one won't morn the passing of the stupid exhausts you hear up and down the high street. Bullet rifle shots types, or 0.9L beat up Corsas with a stupid exhaust. I've always wondered how they get through MOTs. Under the new legislation, if the emissions of said beat up Corsa, or rifle bolt popping Astra don't match, there or there about, the car's original factory emission values, which it most likely won't with the after market exhaust, bingo, it fails.
There's stuff about decoring cats too. Maybe Elgrands may have to get new rear cats from Japan (the legislation seems to make it hard for aftermarket stuff, as the emissions outputs are often different) and then not decor them!! Hopefully not! Also straight through pipes will be laughed at. Those look like they will be failing at the MOT door.
Seems muddy at the moment. The overriding thing is though, the Gov't want yours and other people's high Co2 (and not even high co2, if the car is simply not emitting a similar value (which could be low) which it did when new) cars off the roads, and this looks like yet another way of doing it. All for what though? Is there a shred of evidence that doing all they are doing will make a blind bit of difference.
