What have you done to your Elgrand today?

Was looking at insurance quotes this week as mine runs out in under a month. Realised that my carplay screen has a built-in, automatically activated dashcam. Compared quotes with and without a dashcam, was £400 without and £304 with - no other changes. Worth considering especially when those screens can be had for about £40.
 
Today, I 'rebuilt' my spray booth and put the top coat of lacquer on the rear spoiler and in fact, despite my moaning about the colour match, when done properly on a white base coat and a coat of lacquer on top, the Halfords QX1 is not a bad match after all and sparkles away in the sun like the original.

Not overly impressed with the Hycote lacquer as it states high gloss which it is definitely not, but it's a bit warm here today so may have been affected by temperature. I'll let it go off for a day then flat it with wet and dry and then leave it a couple of weeks before giving it a final buff up. I'll be glad to have it refitted as I'm missing the reverse camera.

3000grit very wet and the hands of a fairy will sort it out mate ( i would give it a couple of days to be fair)

Spraying lacquer from a can is a pain in the arse. Not enough and it looks flat, too much and it runs all over. There's a real sweet spot in how much you lay on, to get a glossy finish
 
Well, today I refitted the spoiler which is a right PITA to do and a lot of rude words were uttered. Lord knows why they have so many clips. During the process one of the semi captive bolts fell out of it's captivation but it was all clipped in by the time I noticed so it will remain with only one bolt 'cos I ain't taking it off again.

As for the colour match it's probably as near as it's going to get for a DIY job and to be honest you'd barely notice a difference under my LED garage floodlights but we'll see how it looks in the sun tomorrow. Nice to have the reverse camara back in action too. I'll give it a couple of weeks to harden off then give it a final rub down and polish.
 
Today I found an Elgrand specific parking bay.

And here's a snap of the refitted spoiler. As you can see, I took the opportunity to 'stealth out' the third brake light and add some eyeshadow to the reverse cam.

Went to the jet wash today and gave it a good going over with the full works from foam to wax, then back at base I decided to give the headlamps a buff up with various grades of wet and dry and a restoration kit. They weren't too bad but had early onset cataract much like myself. You can also see my newly tinted wing mirror indicator lenses.

thes scum are just out of control i would not be surprised if the police know who they are but dont want the paper work and just gave you an insurance number for you to sort out if you caught one and gave the scumbag a beating you would be locked up
 
A friend of mine in Marsden near Huddersfield had a tyre slashed, other cars down the same street had multiple tyres slashed, approximately 12 cars with slashed tyres, someone he knew went to the police because he knew the scum that did it, no proof apart from it being a small village and word got out. The police wouldn't do anything not even interview them because it was "hearsay" but you're right if you gave them a beating the police would soon be round.
 
In the UK catapults are not illegal to own or carry in public, but if they are being used to harm people, animals, property, or for anti-social behaviour, their use could be illegal under existing laws.

The difficulty comes in proving whether or not someone carrying a catapult intends to use it for harm.
