That was half hour ago , should be on now.
Don’t put it away or it will be where you put it in six months ( trust me I know)

The wife is , shall we say challenged, so has a couple of sets of these around the house .
They are foldable, lightweight and stronger than they look, you can even get one with two steps if you want to be posh

It's primed, I'll flatten it tomorrow for the qx1 top coat. Had a test of the chrome surround, soooo much nicer than bob blue.

I painted it Matt black

Well not exactly, painted around the rear number plate but the qx1 in a can is extremely white 😲. Anyhow I'm rolling with it for now as it's much tidier that rust and lacquer peel. Treated the rust by the lock with aquaseal and started thinking about making it all Matt black. So saw a post about chat GTB and gave it a go. Whoah from qx1 to sexy MoFo

I quite like the Matt.
As for the Qx1 in a can , you did use a three stage paint didn’t you , as in base white , pearl white and clear ( the base white on its own would be very very white, also wouldn’t last very long on its own)
 
No, got one of the colour matched cans from eBay. I was aware it's a 3 stage paint but tried them out. Might as well of got t a can of white from Halfords. The lacquer ain't great either. I couldn't find it the way it'supposed to be done in a can.

That would explain the whiter than white then , Qx1 can be a beggar to match even with the proper three stage
 
Hey all not what I have done today but are there any threads of anyone having had the HID headlights converted to halogen I have found my Elgrand has had the HID converted and wondering if I can revert back to HID.

Why would you want to go from HID to Halogen? Didn't these vans all come with HID as standard?

Sounds like trying to retrofit leaf springs or a starting handle...
 
Good to know. Still not sure why anyone would opt for an elective downgrade though. Halogen headlights are worse in pretty much every way except for the price of replacement bulbs.

Presumably to reinstate HIDs would involve sourcing different lamp units (that have the ballast module on the underside) and maybe some other parts and wiring too?
 
Changed my passenger wing mirror tonight. When I brought the Elgrand the mirror was 'glued' on so always worried it will fall off if touched or hit.
Now I can fully retract the mirrors as well.
Now I have to figure out best way to remove upper chrome trim off the old mirror so that I can fix to replacement without breaking it!

Also replaced rear pollen filter but the blower wasn't doing anything!... until I translated the text on the remote control unit.
Ahh... rear air con On/Auto/up/down... the Elgrands do keep on giving ... what will i find out tomorrow?

You're telling me mate I noticed it as the HID ballast is still in there but they have put a plate in to retrofit it and I always wondered why my headlights where so dull haha I either need to retrofit it back to HID or use LED H1 globes just not sure how to do it.
 
Put the Aircon on driving home, blowing a hoolie from the rear vents.
