What have you done to your Elgrand today?

Done nothing as of yet but my carpet for the rear arrived today. So will get on cutting and fitting tomorrow probably .๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿค”

Not a very glamorous task this morning... the bottoms of the sliding doors foul the 10.5J Rays, even with the extra wide rear door hinges, when aired up high which pushes the tops of the wheels into major positive camber.

So, trims off, and after studying the mechanism, I realised I have to โ€˜frenchโ€™ in the sliding cable assembly. It took all morning, but I was able to set it in enough to fully open the rear sliding doors at full suspension height.

Standard fit above, the mechanism sits about an inch away from the door skin.

below, the runner is now flush and actually set in ( or โ€˜frenchedโ€™) into the door skin.

I'm very interested in the air suspension and have been wondering about it for mine instead of sorting out my failing springs/coilovers.

One of my main concerns though is achieving a low ride height and a firm ride with good geometry for drivability. The nature of the whole idea puts me off a bit though - needing less air for lower ride and potentially introducing sponginess. I'm not planning on fitting 10.5J wheels but at the same time I certainly wouldn't want any positive camber problems in all but the highest height for dead slow travel over rough terrain.

If I go to the trouble and cost of air ride then I'd like the option to deck it but not at the expense drivability so I guess sacrificing some height range might be an option. Can you share any details of your system/set up and achievable heights/performance please?

Shit just got real.... roof bars are back on! Can only mean one thing... Back to work proper tomorrow morning! Steadily back into the real world ๐Ÿ˜View attachment 34238
Oh no yeah think we are back in a week, hey the roof bars look good didnโ€™t think they would look good but they do :) might get some for ourselves

She still looks beautiful with roof bars mate and getting back to work is a bit of a shock to the system I'm only doing 3days atm which I quite like atleast you get to go in the grand every day ;)

Yeah they don't look too bad. Prefer it without them on though, so only put them on while I need to carry ladders around.
Only a 4 day week this week and its all outside work so I can keep my distance from anyone!!

Yeah it has its bonus' using the Ellie for work ๐Ÿ˜ only 4 days each week for the next 2 weeks so steadily back into it. And all at a distance from any customers ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

That's not bad then as long as you can still get plenty of cuppas โ˜•๐Ÿ˜

Ooh noo! Flask of coffee only for the time being โ˜น less contact the better for me! Probably been a bit over cautious tbh, but I'll cope for short term with crappy drinks ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

ive got air suspension on my tow car, Range Rover, so I was happy enough with the concept and the ride is on the firm side if anything in that.
As for the Elgrand, itโ€™s got an air bomber system, specifically made for the model in Japan by air runner, a major US AirRide brand. It goes nice and low, but that will depend on several factors... bodykit, wheels, air pressure and any additional lowering brackets, spacers etc...
While I am driving itโ€™s fairly firm at any level, apart from when aired out to low to drive.
